Military Families

Military Star Logo

Welcome Military Families to Oakdale Elementary!

We are honored to be able to serve our military families.

Servicing and supporting our military students and their families is very important to us. We are committed to meeting their needs as much as our abilities allow. Below we have provided links to various resources to help the whole family, academically and otherwise.

Oakdale is so thankful for all our current, past, and future military members and their sacrifices.

Welcome to Oakdale!

Transition Program

  • Upon enrollment, our MSIS clerk will alert Mrs. Blakney and Mrs. Murrah of the military family entering our school. We provide them with the online resources on our page, give them a tour of the school, and introduce them to student leaders. The point of contact person will then alert our Beta Club who will appoint a peer to support the student as they familiarize themselves with our school.

Military Liaison Officer

The School Liaison Officer serves as the primary link between schools, commanders and military parents in K-12 academic matters. The job of the SLO is to inform and connect military families to the resources and information needed to maximize educational opportunities for their children. School liaisons provide assistance as needed in school enrollment and in-/out-processing and educate parents on how to be the best advocates for their children. School liaisons inform local school officials of base programs, policies and activities. They prepare news releases and write articles for installation newspapers to help educate the base population regarding available resources and school programs and policies. They work with the installation’s public affairs office and with other MWR venues to plan and coordinate installation tours and other engagements for school administrators, teachers and students. For support with school-related issues, please call 601- 992-5442.
